Furniture Care

Wood is a natural product and it will continue to expand and contract as the seasons and environmental changes.  This is a normal action called "Seasonal Movement".  The furniture I design and build takes these changes into account so it is minimized, however; they cannot be eliminated entirely.  If any cracks do appear we will work with our clients to build a remediation plan and repair the damage.

The Finish

Our Standard finish is a catalyzed lacquer. Although this finish is waterproof, if there is a spill you will want to clean it up quickly.  Avoid placing hot items directly on the surface like hot pans or pizza boxes this can cause the finish to break down and potentially cloud.

All furniture items get small scratches over time, but to avoid the larger scratches you will want to be careful with ceramic mugs and plates, metal laptops (they develop sharp edges when dropped) and other sharp objects that could make their mark. Do not drag our rub items across the wood surface—this will make it easier for the table to become scratched or damaged.

 Overall General Cleaning

The best general cleaning is to use a damp cloth with mild soap to remove dirt or stains. Gently rub the area with built up dirt until removed.  To remove dush you can use a microfiber cloth or duster; If you want to use a furniture polish we recommend Pledge Furniture Polish or Guardsman Clean and Polish.

You can also create your own natural cleaner/polish by using 1 Cup Mineral Oil, 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar, and 3-4 drops of lemon essential oils in a spray bottle (replace monthly)
